A SEASON OF PORTRAITURE.

Art4you Gallery is proud to announce their 3rd “Portrait” Online Art Competition for the month of July 2020.

We invite artist to submit their best artworks related to the Portrait theme.

With this virtual art exhibition "THE FACES" we want to capture a special moment in history, the corona quarantine period, in form of facial images. This prestigious Portrait exhibition will show works by over artists celebrating the diversity of this fascinating genre.

OUR AIMS ARE ‘TO ENCOURAGE THE APPRECIATION,

STUDY AND PRACTICE OF THE ART OF PORTRAITURE.

The main goal of this project is to create a communal space for people to exhibit their art as it is, for now, almost impossible to do in traditional gallery spaces. The project also reflects the way societies must re-invent themselves and come up with new, more communal ways to act.

 

The main objective of this event is for the purpose of promoting and encouraging the development of portraiture and its to focus on artists interested in the art of portraiture or active in creating portraits in painting, drawing and sculpture.

The purpose of this Society is to encourage, support and promote the development of professional portraiture in any medium and in the vicinity, but not limited thereto.

This concerns everyone, and that’s the reason this exhibition is also open for everyone.

Do our faces reflect the time we’re living? And how?

The deadline for sending the works ends on Tuesday, Aug 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

​

The online exhibition will open in the Mid of July, but individual drawings and paintings will be published as promos.

Rules & Instructions

1. Create a facial picture.

2. It can be a self-portrait or a portrait of someone else.

3. You can seek inspiration from art history, but don’t let it restrict you.

4. A portrait may be a single person, a group, or self-portrait.

5. A variety of interpretations of the Portrait theme can be submitted.In most cases, the picture is specially composed in order to portray the character and unique attributes of the subject. 

6. Paintings and drawings in every possible technique are accepted, photographs are not.

7. Any size accepted. 

8. This is an international virtual art show.

Sign the work with your own name or pseudonym. Include the date when the work was finished.

Take a photo of your work and send it in jpg format by e-mail: art4you.artgallery@gmail.com

1. Maximum size of the file is 3 MB. The width of the image should be 2,000 pixels and the resolution preferably 300 dpi. Send three (3) images at most(of each work)we will choose the best.

2. Include all the relevant details about the work (the title, size, medium, prize, techniques used), a short introduction starting with the words ”I am” and, if you want, a short description of the work and/or a short message to the audience.

3. Include your real name (first and last name) in the post, even if you use a pseudonym. Also include your phone number. If we are to publish your work, we have to be able to verify your identity.

4. Include your category. There are three categories: 1) Amateurs  2) Professionals and art students, 3) Under-16.

Subject of the e-mail: “The Faces / Your Name”.

1. The copyright will remain with you. Children under the age of 16 years need a signed permit from a guardian to participate.

2. Preliminary curating done by the exhibition committee of Art4you Gallery. 

3. Second stage of curating done by the jury, including artists and one art critic (the members of the jury will be named later).

4. The jury’s and the public’s favourites will be awarded with art supplies, artist materials and art books.

5. Important: By participating you give Art4you Gallery  a permission to publish your works and texts on its website and on its social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube). By participating you also give Art4you Gallery a permission to publish cropped versions of your images (so-called header-images), if necessary.

6. Minimum sale price: AED600 (Although works may be 'NFS', not for sale - if your work is not for sale, please input the price as '0' when prompted).

7. The price of works for sale must include 40%+VAT commission.

8. Maximum of 8 works submitted. Selection as per jury.

9. Judging Criteria: The following evaluation criteria will be used for judging the artwork: creativity, interpretation of the theme, originality and quality of art, overall design, demonstration of artistic ability, and usage of medium.

10. Award: All winning artists will receive a digital award certificate, First, second and third place will be largely displayed with an article about the artist and their work. Winning artwork (First place) will be on the poster of the show. Depending on the number and quality of all submissions received, Merit awards and Honorable Mention awards may also be presented. All accepted works will be displayed with the artist name, title of work, and a link back to their website, or email address if they do not have a website. All Accepted artists will receive extensive online publicity and promotion on our website.

11. We encourage emerging talent by awarding valuable prizes.

    • Winners will be notified: Nov 30, 2020 

    • Opening of online exhibition: Aug 22, 2020
